UNC Tailgates Wrap-Up for 2009
This year we hosted over 1,000 alumni, friends, family and opponents during our six 2009 home tailgates. The profits raised from the tailgates, will be split between the Alumni Association and UNC Athletics to help support student scholarships. Each organization will be awarded just over $2,000 each.
Jackson’s All American Sports Grill was once again our sponsor for the 2009 tailgate season, providing a variety of great food from brats & burgers to biscuits and gravy! A special thank you to Mike Ziegler and his crew from Jackson’s for their support! We also had over 25 volunteers help make the tailgate season a success, including the family and friends of staff members! This support made set-up and take-down a breeze.
New to the 2009 tailgate season, was a Krunin with Klawz contest which invited folks in the crowd to come up on stage and sing the UNC Fight Song….our winner this year was Tom Smith! Start practicing now for next season! We also had some very special guests join during each tailgate…the UNC Cheer Squad and the Pride of the Rockies Marching Band. They did a wonderful job getting everyone is the spirit. The tailgates are open to all UNC staff, faculty, students, friends, family and the community at large. Make plans to join us again next year!
