Honored Alumni Nominations

If you are interested in participating in the Honored Alumni program by nominating an outstanding alumnus, the following information is provided:

Nominators are asked to provide their candidate's biographical and personal information to the Alumni Association. The nominator will be the contact person with the candidate until the honorees are chosen. If your candidate's accomplishments are appropriate for any of the previous awards, please provide support for your suggestion. We invite you to keep in touch with our office if you have special information or questions. Feel free to approach the process in your own way. Incomplete packets, self-nominations, and nominations by relatives of candidates will not be considered.

The following standards provide commonalities in the file of each nominee:

• Required from CANDIDATE*:
  -Resume and/or Honored Alumni Biographical Form
  
  
• Required from NOMINATOR:
  -Nomination Form
  -Letter of recommendation to support nomination
  -Commitment as host and guide for honoree at special Homecoming events (banquet, parade, football game)
  -Letters of support (limit of three)
  
  
• Optional from NOMINATOR:
  -Feedback from candidate's major department
  -Media coverage, if applicable
  
  *Anonymous submission is an option if the candidate is not aware of submission.
  
  Nominations submitted electronically (via email or CD) are encouraged.

You may also download and print forms by clicking on the links below. Completed nomination packets are due in the alumni office by April 1.  The selection process will be finalized in May, with the Alumni Association notifying nominators directly. If your candidate is not selected this year, we encourage you to submit the nomination again in another year.

HONORED ALUMNI AWARD Categories

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD *
Recognizes exceptional professional and personal achievement and extraordinary distinction in their chosen field

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SERVICE AWARD *
Acknowledges significant contributions of time and talents on behalf of the University and the Alumni Association

CREATIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD *
Acknowledges alumni in the field of performing and visual arts and/or pioneers in a field of developing new inventions or techniques  

YOUNG ALUMNI AWARD *
Honors graduates of the last decade for their exceptional achievements in career, public service, and/or volunteerism that bring honor to the University

DISTINGUISHED EMERITUS AWARD
Recognizes a former faculty member for their outstanding teaching, service and/or research contributions at the University of Northern Colorado

HONORARY ALUMNI AWARD
Honors the University of Northern Colorado friends and/or staff members who have served, promoted and loved the University in the tradition of a loyal graduate

 * Recipients must be graduates or a former student of the University of Northern Colorado

NOMINATE THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO PERSONIFY THE UNIVERSITY’S TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE, AS SHOWN THROUGH THEIR SERVICE AND ACHIEVEMENTS.
