Art Terrazas, President - BA 1975, MA 1977

Art TerrazasArt Terrazas received an Associate of Arts degree from Aims Community College in 1969, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1975, as well as a Master’s degree from UNC in 1979. Later at Aims Community College, he taught Introduction to Chicano Studies and Introduction to Ethnic studies for 35 years where he was awarded Professor Emeritus Status by the Board of Trustees in 2006.

Terrazas has also served on the Aims Community College Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. At the University of Northern Colorado, he is the President of the Board of Directors for the University of Northern Colorado Alumni Association where he was a previous board member, and has also been on the University of Northern Colorado President’s Diversity Advisory Committee. Terrazas also participates in many organizations within the community. He is a chair of the Youth Gang Prevention and Invention Initiative, as a well as a chair for the Evans Citizen’s Police Advisory Committee. He is also co-chair of the Latino Advisory Committee to the Greeley Police Department. Terrazas is a past member of the Greeley-Evans School District #6 Board of Education, and a past member of the Greeley Human Relations Commission. Along with his participation in many community projects, Terrazas has been a part of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, the Colorado Association for Developmental Education, the National Association for Developmental Education, the Colorado Coalition for Hispanic Education and the National Coalition for Equity in Education.
